Climb, scramble, and ascend the iconic ladders at Rochehaut
The Échelles walk begins in Rochehaut , where parking is available near the village center. A gentle initial section leads you to the famous Chemin de Nazareth , marking the start of the adventure. Prepare for varied landscapes and a gradual climb to iconic viewpoints overlooking the Semois River.
Following the Nazareth Way , a challenging climb along a rocky path awaits you, offering breathtaking views of the surrounding valley. This section of the hike, while demanding, provides an opportunity to fully appreciate the wild beauty of the Ardennes.

The highlight of this hike is the ascent of the metal ladders , installed to facilitate passage over the steep cliffs. This unique route, ideal for hikers seeking a thrill, allows you to climb rock faces while discovering spectacular views of the Semois River. Be sure to wear appropriate footwear, as some sections can be slippery.

After the climb, the descent is gradual, following steep, wooded paths back towards Rochehaut . This less strenuous return allows you to enjoy the last views of the valley before heading back to the village.
