This 57km cycling route starting from Maboge offers a challenging loop through the Ourthe valley , the deep forests of the Bastogne region , and the heights of the Ardennes plateau . The route combines strenuous climbs , forest sections , and panoramic views of lakes and valleys , culminating in a passage by the Nisramont dam .
From Nisramont , you climb towards Nadrin and then Mormont , before descending towards Bonnerue and Vellereux , on quiet and lightly trafficked roads. Long straight stretches through forests alternate with more hilly sections.
After Compogne and Bertogne , you cross large woods typical of the region before heading back up towards Ortho and Hives , with distant views over the Roche-en-Ardenne valley.
The return journey is downhill towards La Roche , then you follow the Ourthe until you reach Maboge beach , a perfect spot for a refreshing break.

This route takes its name from “Pied Monti,” a local expression referring to the short but challenging climbs that characterize this loop. Less well-known than classic routes, it offers an excellent balance between performance and discovering the most beautiful wooded areas around La Roche-en-Ardenne.
