Perched on its rocky promontory in the High Fens , Reinhardstein Castle overlooks the Warche River , a few hundred meters from the Robertville Dam. Built in 1354 , it lay abandoned for nearly 150 years before being rediscovered in 1965 by a Brussels professor, Jean Overloop . Captivated by the ruins, he undertook the reconstruction of the castle using the original materials , a project completed in just eighteen months . Today, its halls, suits of armor , and tapestries are revealed during a guided tour of approximately one hour : the Knights' Hall , the Guards' Hall , the chapel , the apartments , the keep … a journey into the life of the castle, reconstructed stone by stone!

To extend the experience, archery lessons are offered for groups from April to the end of October , while the visitor center offers light refreshments made with local products . The site also comes alive with several annual events: a Christmas market set up in the various rooms of the castle, featuring artisans , a choir , and storytelling ; and Castelflora , where professional and amateur florists decorate each room for a week . Other activities and themed weekends punctuate the year. It is also possible to join the "amis du château" to support the upkeep , renovation , and expansion of the collections .
