20 October 2026
Overlooking La Roche-en-Ardenne , the ruins of the medieval castle immediately catch the eye upon arrival. Since the 9th century , this fortress has watched over the valley. Now in ruins, it nevertheless offers an exceptional playground for exploration : thick walls , ancient towers , dark corners … everything is still clearly visible and accessible. You might almost spot a knight!
Moreover, the site comes alive during weekends and school holidays : archers , artisans , and birds of prey in flight animate the ruins in a medieval atmosphere. In summer, at dusk, Berthe haunts the place and relives her tragic end—weather permitting.
From a practical standpoint, wear sturdy shoes , as the terrain is uneven and not very suitable for people with reduced mobility. Dogs are welcome, provided they are kept on a leash. Want to find out more or come as a group? Just send us an email. And if you're so inclined, you can even combine the visit with a tasting of local products !
