Impressive every time! We loved coming here as children, and we now enjoy watching our children having fun here. A very photogenic spot for original family photos.

On the edge of the village of Wéris lies one of the best-preserved dolmens in Belgium . This prehistoric burial monument was officially described in 1879, but it has been known to the local inhabitants for much longer, for whom it is part of the landscape. The stone structure dates back to the Neolithic period , more than 4,000 years ago, and served as a collective burial site .

Archaeologists have discovered pottery fragments , flint tools, and a few human bones —all traces left by the people who lived and worked here millennia ago. One of the capstones weighs no less than thirty tons ! How could people of that era have moved such massive blocks? It remains a fascinating mystery, partially explained at the nearby Megalith Museum .

Three menhirs stand before the entrance to the dolmen. They may have formed a path leading to the burial monument. Since 1974, the site has been listed and is part of the exceptional archaeological heritage of Wallonia.
