Welcome to Ovifat

Located at the easternmost edge of the Belgian Ardennes, Ovifat nestles at the foot of the High Fens plateau, in the municipality of Waimes, not far from the Signal de Botrange, the highest point in Belgium. This small village is surrounded by typical landscapes: peat bogs, open heaths, deep forests, and gentle hills shape a unique region, perfect for getting away from it all.

Ovifat retains a simple, rural architecture, with houses built from sandstone and local rubble. But its renown extends beyond the tranquility of its streets: the village is best known for its ski slopes, among the few ski resorts in the country, which welcome walkers and families as soon as the first snow falls. In summer, these slopes transform into a playground for mountain bikers, hikers, and summer tobogganers.

Activities in Ovifat are fully integrated into the environment. Discover the High Fens Nature Reserve by following the boardwalks that wind through the wetlands and protected areas. Climb the Signal de Botrange or the Pic de Noir Flohay, two iconic viewpoints in the region. The nearby Lake Robertville, just a few minutes away, offers other pleasures: swimming, paddle boating, or hiking to Reinhardstein Castle.

Ovifat is a true haven for nature lovers, sports enthusiasts, and those who appreciate wild landscapes. This Belgian mountain hamlet offers a rare immersion in the high Ardennes, where each season reveals a different face of the region.
